Relishing Life with Stylishness: From Singling Out Your Child’s Crib Sheets to Furbishing Her Nursery

30th September 2009 by Babies No Comments

Preparing the nursery is one of the most exciting parts of getting ready for a new baby. Baby bedding is purchased with great care given to the design, and so are packages with lots of the tiny socks a newborn will need, and of course the parents lovingly choose a mobile that they will hang over the baby’s crib. Each nursery has a distinct feel; wall paper, diapers, and many other variables are selected from various criteria.

New parents have a lot of choices to make, depending on if they decide to be thrifty or spoil their newborn baby. Selecting items for your new bundle of joy is much more important than you might initially realize. A baby’s bedding has a great effect on his/her long-term development.

Supposedly, eating or avoiding certain food will make it more likely that your child will be male or female. It’s possible that you played Beethoven, Mozart, or other classical music during pregnancy in hopes of yielding a prodigal child. Expecting mothers are often overloaded with information, some true and some not.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, however, one particular portion of your baby’s life has been intensely studied and scrutinized. Scientific investigation suggests that the color and texture of your baby’s bedding may play a part in cultivating his or her behavior for years to follow. Some designs found on baby bedding may aid in the development of your baby’s brain; for instance, cartoon characters or bright mixes of colors like those available on the Trend Lab Maya crib bedding. A bright room may raise a baby to desire surrounding themselves with those colors as they grow older. Your baby’s future choices are potentially affected by the choices you make in nursery bedding.

The effect of colors and shapes is still in doubt;  some studies have not shown any effects on the developing child, although other studies have shown such effects. A child’s development (or lack thereof) can depend on the quality of his relationship and interactions with his parents. Choosing baby bedding can be fun for new parents.

Door Edge Protectors And More Safety Features For Homes With Children

29th September 2009 by Babies No Comments

The home becomes a place of adventure as babies start to crawl, with different areas for them to explore. For babies and young children, the home can be a dangerous place as they might face corners, hot surfaces and bad chemicals on a number of occasions throughout the day. Cuts, grazes, burns and poisoning are the most common illnesses children visit hospital with each year, approximately one million per annum. To prevent accidents from happening; parents are charged with making their homes safe for children. The advice below is intended to make any house safer for a crawling, waddling or walking child.

Babies and toddlers are keen explorers and they like to discover every part of their home by crawling through the different rooms. This means that young children use doorways several times a day. Installing door edge protectors onto your doors will protect both the material and your child from scratches and minor grazes and cuts that can be caused by splinters and sharp corners. Door stoppers will prevent any fingers and toes getting caught in closing doors.

We have already seen that many children suffer from burns caused around the house. Burns are usually caused in the kitchen or the bedroom. The oven is a burner, so keep your child away from the oven door and only use the back rings on the hob so that they cannot reach them. Hair straightening appliances should be kept out of the reach of children until they have cooled down completely. Don’t light candles around children and if you have a fire on, shield it with a fire guard.

The mouth is what children use most to explore new things. This is a disaster when it comes to inedible bits and pieces under the sofa and medicines left lying around. Make sure that anything which could harm your child is kept in a child-proof container or out of reach. Poisoning can be fatal to children, with even small amounts of relatively mild substances affecting them more than you might think.
