Tips On Decorating A Baby’s Room
31st March 2010 by Babies No CommentsExpecting a baby is an exciting time, but it is also a busy one. One of the most exciting things to plan is the baby’s room. How are you going to decorate it? Which colors will be best? What furniture will you need? What home decor accents will you use?
There are so many considerations when designing a baby’s room and this is made even more difficult if you do not know whether it will be a boy or a girl. If this is your situation, when choosing a color scheme you have two basic choices. Firstly, you can choose a neutral color for the walls and furniture and then add color accents in blue or pink after the baby is born. These accents can be pictures, light fittings, bedding and toys.
Well, you could go for a neutral color on the walls and furniture, and add blue or pink accents when baby is born. Alternatively, you could choose colors of yellow, aqua, green, lemon or white which would be suitable for either a girl or a boy. Either way, when baby arrives, accents can be added to make the room more boyish or girly, and you can choose these ahead of time. Pastel color schemes are recommended for baby’s rooms because they encourage rest than bright color schemes.
A theme is a popular decorating technique for a nursery, and it is possible to choose a theme that is suitable specifically for a girl or a boy, or a theme that suits either one. Possible ideas include nursery rhymes, gardens, animals and, of course, Disney is a very popular choice too. Nursery products are readily available in Disney baby bedding, accessories, curtains and wall hangings, and a Disney theme is also suitable for an older child, so redecorating won’t be necessary.
Nursery furniture is available in a wide range of designs and styles, with every possible need covered. Some of these are quite expensive, so ask around to see if anyone you know has baby furniture they can give away or lend. You will probably want to give it a fresh coat of paint, but this is part of the fun.
To complete the decor of your baby’s room, add little touches to personalize it. Hang pictures, frame some family photographs, scatter some cushions and add some toys. Bedding, designed for nurseries, completes the picture. Look for the beautiful designer baby bedding ranges for a special touch. If your budget is limited, but you want to include some of these ideas, watch out for the sales, when you can often grab some great bargains.
Make your baby’s room a special place to welcome your new little one into your home and life.
