Choosing Gender Neutral Baby Accessories

The further into a pregnancy the more often the question comes up: Is it a boy or a girl? Sometimes, people ask out of mere curiosity, other times it is because they are trying to select a gift. It is not always possible to find out, and some people do not want to find out the sex of their baby.

When you choose things for your baby that are gender neutral you will actually be ensuring that you get the maximum possible use out of them. If you are thinking you may want a larger family this is especially true. A convertible crib natural is far easier to use with more than one child than a crib with dinosaurs on it. You want something that can be used multiple times.

Designer baby bedding is expensive, but worth the money provided you made your selections wisely. These items are generally made with very high quality materials and can survive through several babies. If you have one girl followed by two boys, the bedding with pink lace trim will never make it past the first baby.

There is such a thing as too much pink or too much blue. When you overdo it the end result can be nauseating for adults. Think of the poor baby that is not able to speak up about the problem! Sticking with the earth tones will be far more calming for everyone.

The convertible crib is easily accented with other things. You can always tack on some bows, or attach some buttons to make it cuter. The biggest difference is that in the end, these things can be easily changed or eliminated. It is not so easy when the whole crib is gender specific.

Think of the next baby. You spend a small fortune buying car seats, highchairs, cribs, bedding, and other items. The last thing that you want to do is have to buy it all again because you first had a boy, then a girl. The car seat in dark blue with racing stripes does not quite seem adequate. The purple stroller with teddy bears does not quite feel right when you put a little boy in it. By staying neutral you can save a lot of money.

Applying a little bit of foresight and common sense to your shopping can save you a lot in the long run. Even in the case of twins, keeping the item neutral will reduce fighting and bickering down the road. It makes more sense no matter now you look at it.
