Things You Need To Know If You Are A First Time Mother

18th May 2010 by Babies No Comments

Being a mother can be the most rewarding and scariest thing in the world. The day you have your baby the worrying will begin. If you think you were worried about your baby while you were pregnant you will soon learn that was nothing compared to the stress you will now feel.

As a mother it will be your responsibility to protect your baby and keep him happy. Being worried about your baby is completely normal and you will keep worrying even when your baby grows up. You do have to remember to let your baby have a life of their own and let them learn things themselves but there will be times that they need their mother to help them know what is right and wrong. When your little one is just beginning to crawl or even walk and you use home space heaters, this is a time to teach them right and wrong.

This is a good example of a time when mothers should step in a teach their baby. There are some things that are OK for a baby to learn by their self as long as they will not get harmed. I have heard people make the statement ‘they will not do it again if they get hurt.’ This is a terrible way to think. Why should a baby have to learn through harm?

When bathing our babies we use tear free shampoo and baby bath so our babies eyes don’t burn, so why not keep them from hurting any way we can? If there are space heaters in the house just remember to put them somewhere the baby can not reach. Babies grow too quickly and one day when you are storing all your baby boy bedding or your little girl clothes it will hit you just how quickly your baby became a toddler.

It is important to be with your baby as much as you can. You don’t want to miss out on anything because before you know it they will be using big kid underwear and sleeping in a big kid bed. This is not to say that you should not get a babysitter occasionally. Mothers need breaks and that is alright so never feel bad about hiring a sitter for your baby.

If you are one of the mothers that calls the sitter every half hour to check on your baby, that is alright too. If you are worried about your baby and you will be, it is perfectly fine to reassure yourself. Just like you have to teach your baby things, you have to teach yourself to have a good time even though you are worrying.

Most mothers worry all the time. You just have to find a way to push the worry to the back of your brain and not to dwell on it. One day your baby will have their own babies and you will be able to see the great job raising your child that you done even though you worried all the time.
