How to Peruse the Prevalent Selections for Baby Crib Bedding

19th October 2009 by Babies No Comments

Baby bedding is big business with many options from starter to luxury brands which makes choosing the right one very hard for the parents. Because this is your child that we’re talking about, you definitely want to provide him or her with a comfortable crib with soft and functional bedding.

You also need to consider safety, because your child will be spending a lot of time in the crib. Outfitting a nursery can be expensive if you don’t pay attention, so you want to write down a budget before you make plans and start your purchases.

Nursery bedding is entering the world of fashion, because well-known designers are starting to launch their own bedding lines. While these new crib bedding collections may be beautiful, you shouldn’t necessarily spend a fortune since comfort and safety are the primary concerns.

Soft down pillows, ornate crib decoration, and thousand-count Egyptian cotton sheets look impressive, but is all this really necessary? Parents should also be aware that many websites are popping up, claiming to sell deeply discounted name brand bedding, but many of these sites are actually selling cheap imitations from China.

Another important thing to consider is how many crib sheets and other bedding items you’re going to buy, because you will be changing the bedding frequently, especially in the first few months. Many parents are finding great deals online that allow them to purchase multiple bedding sets that coordinate with the nursery - not only does it make the laundry easier, but it also lets you alternate the look of the nursery on a regular basis. Buy gender-neutral baby bedding if you don’t know your baby’s gender yet - you don’t want to stock up on pink roses and then discover that you needed baby boy bedding sets.

When you’re looking for baby bedding, be a smart shopper and stay within your budget, but most importantly keep your child’s safety at the top of the list. No matter how much you wanted that 0 crib set, it can’t even begin to compare to the knowledge that your newborn is sleeping in safety and comfort.

Baby nursery bedding: things to note when shopping for a baby mattress

11th May 2009 by Babies No Comments

When shopping for a baby nursery bedding, many parents do not put too much thoughts into the choosing of mattresses for babies. But there are areas where parents should take note of to make sure the safety and comfort of your precious one.

Many parents commonly buy mattresses off the rack without much thought. Many mums and dads look out for different things such as price, comfort and size. However, what is cheap may lack some safety features that may harm your child and what is may seem cozy and comfortable for adults may not be seen as the same way your your baby.

The one thing that one should consider first, size. When one chooses the size, parents must make sure that the size fits the crib or baby nursery bedding that you already own. Most mattresses have standardized the size these days so that shouldn’t be a headache, but as the safety of the child is involved, it is better to make sure that the size fits rather than simply assuming.

When the gap is too big, your baby’s hand might be trap in the gap, and not knowing better, they may hurt themselves as they toss and turn around or result in their feet getting caught when they start to walk.

When parents shop for mattresses, parents can ensure that there is no more than one finger spacing between the crib and the mattress. With such a small gap, this would ensure that there would not be an extra space that would end up injuring your precious child.

The other area that we should consider next is comfort. For parents, a cusy and cozy mattress may be the best for a comfortable night’s rest but for babies and toddler, the mattress should not be too soft. This is essentially important for newborns. Newborns are unable to toss and turn around, and by having a tougher mattress, it allows the baby to turn over easily as compared to a soft mattress. This is crucial, if your baby has her face down and if the mattress is too soft, causing it to be depressed easily, this may result in difficulty in turning over, it may actually end up in serious consequences.

Adults can make sure that the mattress is not too soft by pressing their palm down against the mattress. The greater the resistance, the firmer it is, the better it would be for the baby. Well, the mattress cannot be too hard or it would feel uneasy for your little one.

Finally, the price. Most parents have trouble deciding over the material used. Do not bother too much, be it foam or coil, it is equally well if it follows the above measures.

So choose wisely when selecting the baby nursery bedding for your hild and it will give your precious baby a good rest through the night!!
